Two teenagers, one American, the other German, are drawn into the horrors of WW11. One is drafted and fights as an infantryman until he is wounded outside a German village. The other is drafted, at 16 into the Luftwaffe Flak Corps to help protect his hometown from air attacks by American and British bombers. During the last battles, thy pass within 5 miles of each other and by chance meet 56 years later to become friends.
